Know Your Ward – Mount Pleasant (Ward 17)

With a population of 26 412 and a GDP greater than that of most small towns in Zimbabwe, Mount Pleasant Ward 17 is an affluent area that accommodates a multi-racial community.
The Ward covers Mount Pleasant, Groombridge, Northwood, Vainona, Pomona, Mount Pleasant Heights and Borrowdale West.
Five primary schools are found in Mount Pleasant, namely North Park, Groombridge, Correspondence School, Goldbrook Junior College, and Northwood Adventist Primary School.
Mount Pleasant has got three secondary schools - Mount Pleasant School, Arundel School, and Harare International School.
Ward 17 is also popular as it is home to internationally recognized tertiary institutions such as the University of Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Open University and Arrupe Jesuit University.
The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) which governs national school examination also has got its offices in Ward 17.
There are various athletics clubs in Mount Pleasant, namely Old Georgians, Zimbank, Barclays, Scout Hall, and Mount Pleasant Sports Club.
Ward 17 also contains a number of shopping centers and office parks such as the Bridge Shopping Centre, Bond Shopping Centre, Pendennis, Mount Pleasant Business Park, Arundel Office Park, and Arundel Village Shopping Centre.
Mount Pleasant has got notable health facilities which include Arundel hospital and Fam Med hospital.
Notable businesses found in the ward include the Agriculture and Research Trust (ART) Farm as well as headquarters for the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe.
